I stumbled across a page from McSweeney’s Internet Tendency that really made me laugh.? I’ve spent two evenings on the page now and have probably seen very, very little of it.? Here are some favorites, aside from the one linked above.
- The entire lists section is very entertaining about half the time.? The titles give a pretty good idea of what the list is about, so click with care kids.
- A brand new post of a letter rejecting Gregor Samsa for SSI.? This is a pretty high brow joke.? English majors and trivia buffs will get it, probably no one else.
- This one, one of many monologs imagined by the writers.? It is really only interesting because I once saw a gator and a shark living in harmony.
There’s a lot more - but be warned some posts may be offensive.

Today I went into J’s office to get away from the stresses of my job for a few minutes. He was messing with my boss C - giving her a hard time about her swearing too much. Though it goes against my policy of using real names on the blog, I think it’s too good not to share.
There once was a lady named Crystal
She really was quite a pistol.
If I had a dollar
For each curse word she hollered
By noon I’d have a fist full.

I was watching a documentary from the BBC Horizon program (it’s sort of like Nova on PBS) on dark matter. Prof. James Peebles from Princeton came out with this little gem:
Jerry brought to this enterprise a lot of astronomical knowledge that I didn’t have. I was trained as a physicist; the astronomy I know I picked up on the streets.
And exactally what street is it where you can pick up the kind of astronomy you need to research the stuff the universe is made of?

We’ll kick off this week’s Sampler with a little bit of stillspinning news. We got our very first comment spam this week. I’m glad to see we’ve caught the eyes of spammers - it means we’ve managed to get found my people who didn’t get a link.
Okay, and awayyyy we go.
- There’s a new girl on my team at work, M. M reminds me of me when I was in high school; it is actually sort of scary. M sends me her daily report she always includes a short message. The last two have been really good. “I say squee” and “Doing a German Dance”.
- The Canadian and Dutch have been in an on-going land dispute over a piece of rock sitting near the Artic Ocean. Both nations have sent officals and troops to the rock, though thus far the battle has been limited to bits of litter representing each nation’s culture. Maybe the UN should send sAme peace keeping troops to keep things under control. (source)
Sorry there wasn’t a lot for this week’s sampler.? Maybe next week…

I back to work to get my medicine this evening.? I stopped by my boss’ office to say hello and she told me she was buying some software:
“I’m going to buy some grammar tutoring software for our less grammarfied agents.”

Last night I went to bed with just a little tickle at the back of my throat.? Today I felt like crap all day long.? I went to lunch at 11:00 to get to the drugstore to pick up some DayQuil to get through work and some NiQuil for sleep and recreational purposes.? I hung out at work all day but didn’t get a lot done, mostly just answered questions and did paperwork at my desk.? At 4:30 I locked up and headed home over my boss’ objections.
So tonight I’m taking it easy.? I have some real posts mostly written already but I think this is going to do it for tonight.

One of the blogs I frequent has a very funny post today.

My neice E is a funny girl.? She’s not very coordinated and is easily distracted so you can imagine that she has managed to get into some real jams.? A recent lapse in judgement ended in the loss of life.? It seems Eliza had decided to pass the time on a summer day by crowing in the rooster’s face.? (You heard me.? This isn’t a post about the chickens though, its about Eliza.)? So the rooster didn’t like Eliza’s new hobby and chased her onto the porch.? The rooster, satisfied that she’d learned her lesson turned to go.? When he stepped off the porch he took a nasty fall and broke his neck.
Today was Eliza’s birthday party.? Jennifer served BBQ.? Eliza was eating a big plate full when she walked up.? We had this exchange:
Me: Hey Eliza.? What are you eating?
Eliza: The rooster.
Awkward pause.
Eliza: I killed it.
The best part is, she thought it was really, really funny.? For the record, I didn’t try the rooster.? I’m told its just like chicken and that I’ve been served what was actually a rooster hundreds of times and I’m not prepared to argue with that.? But I’m someone who doesn’t even eat actual chicken if it hasn’t been taken off the bone and either grilled, fried or baked, you can’t expect me to eat it if it you call it ‘The Rooster’ and talk about what a pretty bird it was.

I was listening to Matt Drudge tonight because I didn’t think to change the station. It was well worth it though. He came out with this little gem:
“Hillary Swank to play John Mark Karr in the TV movie.”

Sorry this is so late.? I spent the day in Cleveland for E’s birthday party.? I miss Cleveland.
- This was from this week’s comics. Oh man did I laugh.
- Kids 4 Truth is a creationist group headed by Bob Roberts.? It’s goal is to teach children the Biblical view of the Earth’s orgins.? They’ve produced a very entertaining movie on the subject.? Very well done.
- It has been a while since we’ve posted a Lego item.? Ueba.net has a very impressive Venice model.
- Sweman is an urban art (reads: graffiti) project by the German (?) artist Sweza.? Using posters created in studio Sweza places the life-size silhouettes in odd places on buildings around Berlin.? Very cool.
- Finally a short film by Quiet Library and Switch Pictures called Perfectly Aligned is well worth a watch.
Thats it for now kids.? Hopefully I’ll have a week worth blogging about.
