As you can see I’ve been playing with the color scheme on the site. I think I like the new earthy tones. Let me know what you think - comment people. Let me know you’re out there!
There are a few known problems with the site:
- When a page being viewed is shorter than the side bars the main column’s background color changes to the same as the side bars.
- Photos that fit in the old site are now too large.
- The site may or may not appear correctly in IE, depending on the screen resolution.
- No one comments (except Mel)
As these are fixed I’ll update this post. If you’ve found other issues let me know.

I went out and took some photos today. Two of them turned out pretty good. I’ve posted an altered version of one below. The other was used to make my new header. Watch for a color change this week.

Okay. After weeks and weeks I’ve finally fixed the last of the bugs with the theme. Thanks to Yosemite from the WordPress Forums for the help.
Now that the basics are working correctly I’m going to try to make a few changes, make it a bit prettier.
Later.

Welcome to yet another Sunday Sampler! I’ve actually been working on this one all week long, collecting little tid-bits I’ve found just to bring them to you.
Before we get started though I want to point out that I am now number 3 on google’s search results when searching for my first and last name. Take that all you other Jeremy Hohns out there. Soon I will rule the internet! (Update: I took a closer look. The 2nd result on Google is actually me too, but its not a result for this site.)
With that out of the way:
- The good folks over at the j-walk blog have a parody of a new, fake google service, the Google Content Blocker. While we’re on the subject of google fun, back in 03 during the run up to the war in Iraq the people at albinoblacksheep made a site dogging France.
- I get a lot of pleasure out of looking down on people who park in handicap spots without permits. I always dream of having the power to have their vehicle towed away while they ‘just run in for a minute’. This is a better idea.
- This week was my birthday and my sister T asked me if I received any Lego’s. I didn’t - which is okay. I really don’t have a place to play with Lego’s right now. But she did get me thinking about Legos again so I headed on over to the Lego site to discover they’ve now got Batman themed sets. I will have a Batman Mini Figure if nothing else, thought the Two-Face one really excites me too.
- And finally a question to round out this week’s sampler. When did the word gay stop being an adjective and become a noun. I am speaking of the trend of saying someone is ‘a gay’ instead of just gay. I’ve heard this mostly on NPR but its also come up when speaking to my gay friends. Is PC invading grammar now that it has finished with our vocabulary?

Sorry about the lack of posts this week, especially to all you new visitors. I’ve been trying to find a solution to the problem with the second post aligning with the lowest item on the sidebars. I even went as far as to post on a forum looking for help and had a brief exchange with someone who I thought was going to helpful before they lost interest. I’ve even toyed with the idea of starting over and just rewriting the whole thing - but this does not seem like an acceptable solution. I like the new look and don’t want to have to go through all this again.
In other news I’ve scrapped another personal project. I had decided I was going to try to grow my hair out a bit and see what a pro could do with it. It was getting really hot though so last night I went out to my sister’s house and got a hair cut. I also took the liberty of using her clippers to take out my beard. Maybe I’ll give it another go through the cooler months. I’ve requested some recent photos of me before the trim so I can post a before and after.
I’ve managed to get an .rss feed going. I’ve tested it in snarfer and in google’s browser based reader. For those of you who don’t know rss feed readers act a lot like Outlook, or at least the one I use does.? It retreives new posts from sites you subscribe to and it ‘feeds’ you new posts from sites you visit.? They call it browser-free but I don’t see how its really all that diffrent, except you’re automatically notified of new posts.
So thats it fow now kids. Sorry about the inactivity this week. Check back tomorrow for our Sunday Sampler.

So in an effort to figure out what the heck is wrong with my theme I visited w3.org’s xml validator. After considerable effort and I brief scare with the site going black for a few minutes I’ve validated the xml on the site. This means that everything should work correctly…but it doesn’t.
I have earned the right to be smug though.

Okay. Its not that I’ve given up on fixing the problems my template is having in IE but until then, do you and me both a favor:

Jul 13
At work today I discovered that my new style sheet is not displaying correctly in IE.? If you know .css and think you can help me out, let me know.? I’m at a loss.

So I’m getting tired of trying to figure out what the problem with the single page posts is and have opted to take that part of the site down until I can figure out what the problem is. So until I’m met with more ridicule I’m going to stick with this lay out. The next big project will be to figure out adding a second column…after I get the pages fixed.
Jul 10
I’m going to leave the new layout up for a few days to do a full test.? I know the page posts are not layed out correctly and the comments box is oversized.? Tell me what you think of the new layout via the comments section.
