Pirate Bay’s Rain on the MPAA

Sin comentarios »

The Swiss bootleg site Pirate Bay was brought down a few weeks ago by the MPAA and the Swiss equivalent APB. Now that they’re back they’ve sent a response to the MPAA and APB using the same methods that took them down. You can see the text of their message after the jump.

I found this site tonight.? Its fairly cool what this guy can do with a balled up post-it note, but what I really like is that it seems he not only gets his supplies at work but does his practice there as well.

Shark and Gator

I was leaving work the other day when I noticed that some unknown person had placed a plastic shark and a plastic alligator (or is it a crocodile?) under a tree at the edge of the parking lot.? I returned that evening to take this photo.? Today I noticed that they were missing.? I don’t know if the grounds crew took them, their owners reclaimed them or if they got tired of waiting and left on their own.

No matter their fate, its always nice to see something random.? (photo? after the? jump) Seguir leyendo »

Religion and the Comics

When I first found this page I thought it was a joke.? I went a little deeper and discovered that they take themselves quite seriously.? Adherents.com offers statistics on what people believe.? For some reason they’ve taken the time to write some very in depth essays on the religious beliefs of comic book characters.

Though I’m not a huge comic fan I’ve been known to haunt the racks on comic book day, mostly with Grady and Garold back in the Cleveland days, so I’ve decided to include a few favorites.? Seguir leyendo »

The Many Adventures of Cactus

Many moons ago when I was a student at Lee University I used to go for a walk to Deer Park each day. The main path between my dorm at the park took me past an abandoned house with a four feet tall cement cactus on the porch. After thinking of the cactus for a few months I decided that it would be mine.

I don’t know how many of you have ever tried to move a solid cement object before but I can tell you they are rarely light. Cactus was no diffrent. Though the original plan called for me carrying him all the way back to campus I ended up going to get my car and driving him back.

School ended and I went home and cactus went with me. When I moved back to Cleveland cactus once again came along and stood proudly on my front porch. This is where the story really starts. One morning I stepped outside and noticed that Cactus was gone!

A few months later things got interesting. Strange letters started appearing in my mailbox stuffed with photos of cactus all over the place. The letter sometimes had details as to what Cactus had been up to others were just letters. I’ve posted the photos below along with some details as to what’s what.

Water Games

Back in my Lee U. days some friends took part in a large scale role playing game they loving called, “The Game”.? Basically they purchased a lot of Nerf guns, divided up into families and had an old-style mob war that spanned the entire community - no place was off limits.

Though I didn’t ever play I did always think the concept was great and was sort of envious of all the fun they were having.? It looks like I may get another chance.? The Cool Hunter posted a story about groups in L.A., San Fransisco, Vancouver and New York have been starting an assasination based game using water pistols.? Once the game begins you get the name, photo, address and telephone number of your target.? You kill them and you get the name of their target and move on.? The game continues until you kill someone who has your information.? Sounds like fun.

OhGizmo, a popular gadget blog, has a short entry about a remarkable new product. This toilet paper dispenser actually prints rss feeds directly onto the TP to give you something fresh to read each time. Not only does it print but the thing weighs each visitor and gives them their own custom feed.

The PBS Kids website has a really good puzzle based on a Rube Goldberg machine. It’s pretty simple but still sort of fun if you’re good and bored.

Esher’s Legos

Sin comentarios »

We all know and love M.C. Esher’s drawings of the impossible.? The staircase that returns you to the top of itself, the waterfall that feeds back into the stream from which it came and all the others.? Someone has managed to get it done with legos…sort of.

I thought about posting this for my small lego site collection.? They use digital effects to make the model truely look like Esher’s drawing, but the construction is complex enough to warrant inclusion.
